This position requires a skilled mechanical engineer to assist the project engineers in support of several of the following design/development projects; Primary Flight Crew Seating, Cabin Crew/Gunner and Recovery Team Seating, Fast Rope/Troop Insertion/Extraction, Electric Powered Rescue Hoist, Armor Protection, Interior Furnishings, Medical Litters & Equipment, Wire Strike Protection, and Self-Defense Armament subsystems.
The Mechanical Engineer will be in an assistant project engineering role responsible for duties as assigned by lead project engineers, such as: subsystem specification maintenance, preliminary design definition using CATIA V5 tool, Review of supplier technical data submittals in the form of analytical reports and development drawings. Supplier technical interface and support is required to assure schedule and technical progress through project milestones such as preliminary and critical design reviews (PDR/CDR) and successful component qualification testing. The candidate will have good leadership and communications skills dealing with suppliers and both internal and external customers. Time-management skills and the ability to meet commitments is a must. Occasional travel to supplier, manufacturing, test and customer facilities (including potentially international) will be required. Creation of Design Center Offload Packages and reviewing Design Center drawings and EC’s is required, necessitating understanding of drawing practices, material selection, manufacturing producibility and processes and geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices. A working familiarity of military standards and specifications is a plus. Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills in CATIA V5 is mandatory.
The preferred candidate will have rotary or fixed-wing aerospace industry experience.
